| Our Cabin Leaders are all 18 years or older and possess at least a high school education. They are assigned a cabin group of 8 to 14 students depending upon the boy/girl ratio at school. The cabin leader greets his or her students, introduces his or herself and leads the new campers to their cabins. The kids will unpack and pick a top or bottom bunk. From there the kids are given the rules of cabin life. The cabin leader will play a "name game" to learn all the students names. They are sometimes given fun camp nicknames. The students go from the cabin to the dining area. The students will line up in front of the dining hall. A naturalist and a cabin leader will start the kids off with a new camp song. From there, the student's are instructed on dining room protocol. Manners are highly regarded in our dining rooms. The staff all sit at the tables with the kids. We reinforce polite manners, such as using please and thank you. We also encourage putting their napkins in their laps. We do not allow hats on in the dining room. The feel is of a nice restaurant, so we want the kids to abide by this rule, respecting themselves and others. |
